Naked Neck/Turken Thread

You know, I don't really like white birds very much (and they're total hawk bait around here), but these are some NICE birds, Kev!!!

Ha thanks, I don't like white birds very much either. The white is mostly coincidental due to cx-and even then I picked out the day olds with black dots because it meant they were not pure for white. But with these I catch myself looking and thinking they do look nice.. Didn't have feeling about the 'Paint' color until one chick with big black spot on shoulder, rather liked the look.. was thinking it would be fun to maybe create a paint line. However so far, the paint thing doesn't seem to be happening- at most just a few random black feathers. Maybe a good thing- steering away from the chicken math nonsense ha!

77 hatched and looks like a few more are trying to improve get out.

You can see way more pictures on the FB Naked Neck fanciers group. It takes too long to upload that many in here.

This time around I've only marked the chicks from the green eggs.

The first group of green eggs are from my older GENN set 6 eggs and all six hatched. This one was a sex link cross. Always my luck 4 makes and 2 females.

The second group were from my Crested Polish cross hen ( she came from my NN lines). Set 6 and 5 hatched. Zero are naked necked. Bummer. I've got her moved to a different rooster and he will assure me NN.

See! You don't even like white birds. That pullet needs to come live with me where she will be adored.

@Kev the NN - Cx is looking stout! What generation you on with these?

Quick update on the birds! We've been swamped here, we just brought home our newborn son, Oliver! Wow we are busy!

I've included several shots of the color variations so far... Have two pure all white (one is the largest). All of these were born 02/02 - so 12 days old. I have some enormous non-NN birds as well in this hatch. Batch 2 - (205 eggs) should start pipping the 24th-25th.
Based off the previous metrics, we should get at least 20 more NN's.

Some nice colors: Out of 78, we had 8 NN.

Second generation- both parents were cx-nn crosses. btw the cx were sold as such at the feed store but think the cx probably were a slow grower strain or ?? as they did not grow like the monsters you butcher at 8 wks. They did eventually get huge just it took a while longer.
