This is Mystique:

I have what I think will be a pullet with a rose comb similar to her in the second batch of chicks. (I was pretty sure only Puppy and Polly were laying, but I wonder when I see these chicks...). She's a real sweetheart. Does the lighter tip to her beak mean anything?

And for fun, here's an update on Khan:

Mystique has very white toenails.. interesting! I have no idea what's behind light vs dark toenails or beaks.. The pullet probably has Pg- alternating brown and black bars on the chick feathers is usually Pg, I'm guessing she will look a lot like Mystique.

Nice long neck- good for keeping the ears well away from the Ceti eels....

Since the subject was just on FM birds, I thought I'd mention that Papa's Poultry has some Ayam Cemani and Svart Hona for sale from his upcoming hatch. I have some of his Orps and have been happy with their quality.

Thanks for posting this! I looked - won't get any now, but I really appreciate his full disclosure of the details of his birds. I find that very helpful when choosing a source (that is, knowing about what still needs work, because after all, all birds need work theoretically).

Well, it looks like I got around 155 / 193... so around 80%. Could have been higher, with better humidity. I might shoot for 75%-80% next time. I'm also having birds hatch a bit earlier so might recalibrate the temperature as well.

We're going to bring these outside as soon as either: 1) The birds are fully feathered (6+ weeks) or 2) It is no longer freezing outside.

Our plan is to cull hard at 10, 13 and 16 weeks. Out of 233 we will keep between 30-40 going into the beginning of June.

Wife is loving the Silky x NN x other. Rough plan is to build a small coop just for them. Any Nn that has Fm or PTI / pti+ or H+ / h will get grouped together. Pics of this group by next weekend!
