Naked Neck/Turken Thread

beautiful! will that colour remain?

I'm doubtful it will. He's already developing even more bigger white areas.

I'm keeping him though because I'm so curious as to how he will turn out.

On another note, looking through what I've got left of this hatch it looked like I had an even number of cockerels and pullets. 19 of each.

While observing them I noticed one who was just getting his real feathers in he still had the fuzz that chicks hatch with. He hasn't seemed to have friends any since hatch. So he along with 5 other cockerels that aren't growing so well, they were just about half the size if the rest were culled. A deed I hate doing but very necessary to make improvement to the flock.

Looks like also type Calico project may be making a stepl farther along. I've got several pullets that are looking promising. Not so many Red hatched this time around. These were more a light buffish color with big spots of white showing Along with darker coloring.

I've got a couple of cockerels that are looking like they may turn out to be Silver Partridges. Been trying for one to go along with my hen I have.

Christine, here are a few photos where you can see a foot in one of Rizzo's egg. Why is it I can never have the camera right when it looks best. You should have seen what I saw at first! The whole foot..plus..you could see the outline of the head. I swear I saw a cap! Then a slender area, then dark. he he..bet that one is a NN for sure...now watch.

Anyway, called to my husband to get my phone, and of course the whole foot shadow was gone, but there are some toes. That foot was big! lol Look past the X mark.

Been ultra-busy on the farm, so a very quick update: Batch #2 has been moved to the remodeled Egg-mobile... Batch #1 (below) is still going strong in the chicken tractors. Primary pasture is coming in nicely, I might give it another 3 weeks before I run any animals on it.

All I'm gonna say is if that lovely white NN disappears, it wasn't me....really.

Oh....WOW! That's still a pretty awesome shot!

That little one who almost died at hatch and rallied, is not going to make it after all. She has been doing great all week, just smaller then the others, but this afternoon out of no where she is near dead. If I had my big girl panties on I would cull her, but she doesn't seem to be in pain just very weak so I'll let nature take it's course unless she seems in pain.

Oh, sorry, that's a tough one. Having worked with them, having them do better, then all of a sudden go down hill. It's always sad.
I just had a bantam cochin that needed help for a long time. Finally, it began to eat. I was just waiting .. watching, because it's happened before. But, this little cutie has made it. It's way smaller than the others, but I can tell will do well. Sorry this didn't happen for you this time. We never know.
