Of course I'd get roos!! Anyone on this thread in So.Cal interested in giving one or both of these guys a home? The pure NN is very mellow, thought for sure it was a pullet . . . until it started looking rooish. It made it's first attempt to crow this morning. I love these little guys trying so hard!! The NN/EE cross was scalped by the flock. They had been together for several weeks before this happened. So frustrating! It's looking much better. I don't think it's going to be a show bird, but should recover with time. I have not heard it crow, but to my untrained eye I'm thinking roo.

Also, these two birds are being kept together in a small cage while the white one heals. I'm so amazed that the little roo isn't bothering the other bird with this ghastly wound on it's head. Is that just typical roo behavior or do I have a really sweet and gentle little cockerel?

Kev, if you had to keep one roo which one would you keep? The Lavender Cuckoo or this Cuckoo with the Lavender gene? I want to increase my chances of getting some pure Lavender hens, apparently not this time around.

Oh, and obviously not with a white EE!

Allison they are both beautiful and I think that the white EE looks female. The little cockerel is gorgeous. Is little Kev still being rough with his favorite little NN hen ? Weren't you talking of replacing him if he continued to hurt her ?
