Naked Neck/Turken Thread

My NN's have been pumping out the chicks like a conveyer belt this year. Five batches have hatched so far, and there are two more broodies on eggs right now! And now the very first one to go broody back in April, a NN/Aloha, is trying to go broody again! I have 4 boys, two Bresse x NN's and two Jersey Giant x NN's, and all of them are very good to their girls and all the chicks.

So my two young cockerels are 9 weeks old now.
They’re looking so handsome :love

I wish I could keep them but I know when the hormones kick in they’re going to turn into buttheads  and make my girls miserable and stressed.
I’m sticking with bantam roosters now.

This guy’s mother was one of my Speckled Sussex.

This guy is the spitting image of his father except he’s got very little feathers on his neck. I think that means he’s NN.

They’re pretty much inseparable.

@ChooksNQuilts You have some nice color's going on in those two.
Thank you!
I really love my Naked Necks.
I so wish I could keep them but I’m totally over the stress standard roosters cause my hens.
I really want to find someone to take them who loves Naked Necks and wants to breed them.
I also want them to go together.

Yes, they can get pretty big, and it would be stressful for smaller hen's that they would try to breed with. Good luck in re-homing them to someone up there.

is chicken wire safe to put over pallets or mice, rats, weasles, etc. could get in the coop?
Should be. It won't stop mice or young rats, you need the 1/2" hardware screen for that. I've been using those box style live traps for the mice. I also read somewhere that you can put out blue cheese as it's safe for everything else but the mold is toxic to mice.

The first pic is most of my crew right now. 5 roos for sure, the two in front plus the gray one, the black one with the white head and one all black that I'm pretty sure is also a boy.

I love the pullet in the last pic, she's just an all around pretty bird.
