Naked Neck/Turken Thread

And here are some updated pics of the NN chicks hatched 8/28:

They are both frizzles, but are feathering out at very different rates.
I think this one might be a blue barred frizzle green-egger (I thought it was a splash til today):

OK, done for now.

Hey, Naked Neckers!

I'm here, once again, to throw a pic of my three beautiful girls at y'all!

Slight question about Rocket (The one who's trying to get my hopes up with that barring on her wings), though...

"She" is developing some redness on her cheeks. Should I be concerned that Rocket might be a boy? D:

(Sorry about the poor picture. Camera died JUST after I snapped this one!)

And, in case anyone's curious, here's a video I shot today of my flock. No NN's in the main pen, yet, sadly.

Dipsy. I am another member of your chicks' fan club.....gorgeous.

Nitro....any idea of the parentage of your chick with the interesting feathers? It's just that I have non-NN who is developing a similar feather pattern.....only 4.5 weeks old at the moment, though.
How old are yours?

I really like red NNs. They are indeed beautiful, Nitro. No, you don't have to worry about the red on the cheeks in regards to sex. It's just NNs.

Anyone - How many generations does it take to remove the beard and muff from a NN if you cross it with a breed that has it?

I don't know. Straight up crosses here with NN and Ameraucana don't *usually* have beards. The beard feathers get sucked away right along with the neck feathers, hahaha.
There may be a few 'mutton-chop' feathers left of what was the muffs, but not much.
I thought it was cool when it was explained to me that bearded birds have a single gular lappet (dewlap) rather than wattles. And the NN's with single gular lappet (at least mine) would have been bearded but for the naked neck.
Sunny and warm here today --- I'll be glad to share!
