Which one ? And In my humble opinion. "The Blues and Splashes that Nava in U.S.A. the state of Florida are the "Cream of the Crop", AKA sort of the best according to my eclectic values.

So this breed was developed to have one third of the feathers of most chicken breeds, valued for egg production and dinner table value, but as far as beauty. I vote for the splash and blues from NAVA.

There's a question on the Swedish Flower Hen Thread that was asked and I'd like to know the answer to myself.

When a bird is "grey", is that the blue gene or the lavender gene? The SFH's are said to be black, grey, white and red.
Am I correct to think that "grey" is what we know as blue? Here's a link to the farm that imported them so you can see some
pictures: http://greenfirefarms.com/store/category/chickens/swedish-flower-hens/ I would love to cross a crested SF with
a big blue NN. I've got one little chick that is grey with a red specks and is crested. For once I'm hoping roo!!

ETA: Wish there was some way of "searching" the individual threads. I know we talked about this in the past...just don't remember.

I am happy to find a naked neck thread. I am getting back into chickens after five years. I ordered a mix of pullets from Ideal. My wife said she would like to try naked necks, because they are so different. I ordered two and I have to say at seven weeks of age they and the Delawares have become my favorites. Even has me thinking about breeding a few or crossing with the Delawares. If the breeds develop as I expect I would like to combine the heat resistance of the NNs ( I live in southern AZ) with the egg size an production of the Delawares. Looks like I will need to break out the incubator and see about buying some NN eggs so I can have a roo down the road.

and to the Wonderful World of NNs. Many folks who hang here have mixed NNs with other breeds to develop one trait or another. Size of bird and eggs is one of them, color and style the next. They are fun to work with because the NN and less feathers is dominate.

KKH where are the genetic experts ? I am leaning to your supposition the grey is equal to blue. The reasoning is that lavender results from a gene that blocks black. At least I think that I remember reading that is a previous post. But I do remember that if I post questionable information, that post brings in the experts.
