Naked Neck/Turken Thread

Hmm I wonder why they didn't work?? I've used photobucket many times before unless I'm doing something wrong?? Thank you Lisa for fixing them!

Now I gotta ask how did ya do it?? LOL I didn't have enough time this morning to upload them to BYC individually or I would have.

They are all alive and healthy and running around like little goobers! :o) Oh and Nava was oh so nice to send a BLRNN chick, too! I just have to figure which one that is..

Aww babies!

Seeing so many lovely babies makes me NEED to hatch some if the weather ever warms up .Mild December and January up until a week ago, when temperatures plummeted.......-3C by day and -10-- -12C overnight. Just to say the Naked Necks don't seem to be in the least bit bothered by these temperatures and are first out of the coop into the snow in the morning.

I have a pure black LF Naked Neck called Melvin......(Thought he was Melissa until he crowed one day) who has no feathers at all on his neck or shoulders. I want to breed him with a similar unrelated totally bald necked hen Black Treacle and Blackchops (huge black NN X ?....weight 9.5 lbs at 9 months).

I then have some 'blue' girls to put with Gordon, realising that this could lead to several different colours.

I will also try the black NNs with La Flèche (if they survive the cold.....they are much less comfortable than the NNs).

In the meantime I'll have to drool at everybody elses' chicks.

I would love to know chick neck results of total bald neck bred with the same and also Melvin with Blackchops(oh how I'd love to have her!).

Surprised the La Fleches are less cold tolerant... are they small or have dual purpose builds?

Really cute chicks, everybody.

Dipsy, the blue pullets was hatched June 27 or 28th and she weighs between 6 and 6 1/4#.

Just thought I'd post a pic of my Naked Neck Lolly. She is one of my best layers of my flock, has not stopped this winter (except during her very quick molt) and she always lays a nice large egg. She is also the largest hen in my flock! Thinking of adding one or two more to my flock this year. Especially if they end up like her
