Naked Neck/Turken Thread

KKH, I think the one behind that black one might be a cockerel too, and in the other 3 pics the last 2 might be pullets and not sure on the blue one, wait until 8 weeks and it might be easyer to tell.

NTRIR I think you got some Showgirls, pics please.

I am going to have to take some pictures! I want to show you all my five little showgirls that hatched two days ago

They will be friends with my little NN turken

I want to tell everyone on here how appreciative I am with all of the acceptance you have for everyone else's differences in what they are breeding to the turkens. I know some of you want to breed for the standard, but you don't put others down for breeding mixes together. I have been following another thread and have been afraid to post much because of the snootiness that has been demonstrated on there. I have decided to not read that thread any more. They are having a discussion about this on there right now. Anyway, I would like to say....thank you for the tolerance of new comers, and thank you for taking yourselves seriously, but not putting someone else down for something THEY want to work on, even if it isn't what you would want to do

Cool, kind of what I was thinking! I was hoping that the last two might be pullets. :)

Love Showgirls!! I've got one little one and there's nothing sweeter. Pictures PLeeeeeeeeeeeeeease!!

Victor has been busy. I have an incubator full and may have a few of my very own showgirls. And if not now some wyandotte or another is sure to go broody in a few months.

Here are a few pictures of my one week old NN. They are super cute and I love them all.

This girl is Nakita, and as you can tell she just finished her dinner!

This is Norma Jean, my super blonde bomb shell.

This is Nala and Nellie.

This one is Noel.

And one more of Noels backside.

I have another one that is more red, but she didn't make it to the photo shoot today. Thanks for taking a look at my girls. :)

WyoChickenMamma
, you really got a nice variety didn't you?!

Nala has a nice clean neck and Noel looks like she's going to be laced. It's so much fun to see how these birds feather out.
Thanks for sharing. Can't wait until next weeks photo shoot! ;)

QUESTION for everyone. Has anyone lost a LF NN to a hawk?

QUESTION for everyone. Has anyone lost a LF NN to a hawk?

Thank you, they are just hatchery birds from MM. I have one NN in my original flock that was given to my son by a guy in Colorado who had several NN hybrids. We named her Nancy and we all just fell in love with her. She has the sweetest disposition. Sadly, she is pretty low on the totem pole and often spends more time kind of on the periphery of the flock than right in the middle with the rest of the girls. So when I ordered chicks I ordered 5 more, so she would have some "birds of a feather" companionship. They sent me 6 and I am happy with them. They were labeled as all pullets, I am hoping so. However the dark coloring coming out on Nakita has me a bit worried. All the pictures I have seen of chicks that way turn out to be roos. Any thoughts on that? I will keep sharing pictures too, as I am somewhat of a lover of photography and just can't help snapping pictures of them.

And to answer your question regarding a hawk. NO. I have not lost any of my girls to a hawk or eagle. But I did have a little hawk find his way into my coop last fall.

He had to have come through the pophole door. He was just scared and freaked out....the chickens (all LF and full grown were not the least bit concerned by him).
