Naked Neck/Turken Thread

X2 I think her face is pretty also. KKH did you find homes for your extras ? Sadly although mine are growing nicely, I have not checked them out closely for some time. There are three, one month old EEs running in my garage and they want out everytime they see me the rush the gate of the crate

! I would bring my NNs back to be nearby but once they hit the dirt that is what they want.

I think, a little lady

Speaking of genders, what does everyone think on this one? Had three NN in the valentine's day hatch.. One is obviously a girl (and a very pretty one too - haven't been able to get a decent pic yet), one was obviously a boy (big red comb and monster legs at around 4 weeks). This one has skinny little legs like the obvious girl and small yellow comb, but s/he had a red neck starting at about 6 weeks. Too young for saddle feathers yet, so no, none there. Almost 9 weeks old. I'll keep him/her/it either way, as there's room in the coop for two roos if they get along, but I keep going back and forth. If it helps any, s/he is probably half EE.

Yes, someone down here will take all cockerels with the intention of breeding them with hens acquired from DipsyDoodleDoo. She's offered to supply me with eggs in the future. There were 5 boys, 2 crowing, the other three growing in their shiny black hackle feathers. Plus, comb and wattles are much bigger and redder than the girls. I ended up with 3 splash and 1 black. I'm in love with the splash. They, like featherz's pretty pullet, just look like girls. Now the fun of naming them!!

Thanks for that photo. He is so good looking ! I lost my blondy, One day I found her dead no illness or trauma noted. She may have been egg bound ? My six babies are growing nicely and my BLR from Kev's place is OK as well but not with any hens as of yet. My alfa roo would have a stroke!

How are the lambs ? They are more than pets right. Do you sell them at a certain size. I enjoyed your comment that the babies were not gentle. How can a undulate be gentle with hooves ? ha ha

Gordon remains a favourite. Broody Brahma left her eggs for a 'poop' break today....there are thread veins in at least 4 of the 5.

KKH, naming creatures is always good fun (and I know folk come up with some great names).

Flower, we do sell a few of the sheep, some ram lambs, but it's a hobby really, so we keep quite a lot of them. They are very like pets in that they all have names, like digestive biscuits, and are very friendly. My star of this year is a very old girl who was marked by a farmer friend 2 years ago as being 'too old to be of any worth', but I like her, so kept her. She had 4 lambs totally unaided overnight 5 weeks ago. We left one with her and have bottle fed the rest. So lamb names ....Minnie (looks like Minnie Mouse), Jasper, Eddie (FatEd), Percy Plant, Angelina, Shane, Billy, and Ruthie.

I wish I could let mine free range! I would be tempted, however, to let my NN , Camo, come inside for a little while too . When ever he can hear me or see me, he paces back and forth along the run. I feel so bad for him. I hope he doesn't mature to hate me :(

My son's favorite chicken is the NN. We have a black and buff hen and hatched NN/Ameraucana chicks. He is in love with them and I promised him they are all his to name and love. He cuddles them everyday. We got two dark babies with little spots of blond and two that have Ameraucana markings. They are so great! I wonder if they will lay easter eggs?
