Naked Neck/Turken Thread

I have several barred NN chicks, and if any are girls (so I keep them) I am planning on naming them Shakespear woman's names. (barred ...................... the bard)

Hi! I am new to chickens but am really loving the NN's :)

I have one NN roo (SCORE FOR ME-last one the hatcher had) and several girls, including 2 BR and 2 silkies. I am thinking about breeding some hybrid NN's, do you have any tips? especially if I want to sell them eventually?

There are many here who enjoy developing out style of NN mixes. But so far the market is limited to those with eclectic taste. Folks warm up to them after they become acquainted with the breed but initially the NN is too foreign or could I say weird !

Hey if you have a rooster you will have fertile eggs ! that is a fact !

Maralpz oooh you have Hamburgs ! They are a good breed for being hardy and good producers of medium size eggs. But the egg is big relative to the birds size. My only hamburg is a gold spangled but I hope to order at least half dozen silver spangled because the high contrast is so much fun to watch.

So far I am just collecting my birds but have not done much breeding. The only LF (hatchery)NN that was of breeding age up and left us possible Cancer or something bad. She never laid an egg as far as I know. Next year when my beautiful pullets from Nava are full grown, they will become my basis for my NN mixes.

Three 8 wk old cockerels from Nava's stock: Splash, Blue and Black

Pretty splash pullet.

Here's an overview of them to show all the different variations of color. The 3 lightest in the center plus one black up front are the pullets. The blues and the darker splash are the cockerels. I'm soooooooo wanting to keep one of the boys.

Here's the big blue boy..what are these specks around the area around the ear? My eyes can't focus that well...it's an over 40 thing.:/

Ok, I got the bright idea to crop this pic of blue boy...interesting...just skin discoloration?

Your NN flock look very healthy. How is the conversion of the trailer ? And where will its resting place be ? Are you planning on using the spot where the tortoise live for their run ? Do you know that tortoise live in the upper Mojave ? There is a man here in town that has had a pair living in his yard forever. They have build their den under the ground where the hibernate all winter. When the weather warms they come out to play and visit .
