Naked Neck/Turken Thread

Thank You! I am really hoping that one little turken chick will get the salmon fav color! Right now it is looking promising! I had always wanted a turken boy with the salmon fav coloring.

Question: My last little NN chick just hatched out and it's a beauty!! It's two days after the other two. When I pull it out from under mama she acted like she didn't know what it was and pecked at it. I stuck it back under her and she appears to be okay with it. Do I need to worry about it's safety?
It's got a perfectly clean neck and appears to be blue. I can't tell you how exciting this has been for us!! They're all so beautiful!
I hope someone that knows will see this and answer. I surely hope she will take it in and realize it is hers! I am very excited for you and your family!!!

No that is Phyllis a salmon fav/silkie mix.

Here is an older picture of Gretchen and her sister Penny. They both have some crests going on! Penny is a dainty girl and Gretchen is heavier. Penny is a poser just like her mom was! ;)

Penny

Gretchen also has a beard!

How beautiful!!! I think you have me thinking now.......after I get my barred this year.......maybe there will be a new breed in the mix down the road...........

My guys and girls had a photo shoot today so I thought I would post some pictures!

Gretchen & her Boyfriend Lenny the salmon Favorelle. They take the kids for long walks, even over to the neighbors!

My original Turken Girls

This is Jeff. He hangs out with the EE mix boy all the time so I have been calling them Mutt & Jeff.

Can I ask you please, what do you use your cages for? I see a lot in one of your pictures, and was wondering if you used them as nest boxes.

I have a ton of broodies here. Penny is broody right now and I use the cages to put the broodies in when I find them in places they shouldn't be brooding, like in the favorite nest box! LOL I can close them up for the first day or two and then they will stay put and hatch in them and also raise their clutch in them. My silkie girls also like to brood together so if there are a couple in one nest, I will put them in the bigger cages. My silkies seem to love the cages and the covered kitty pans. The other side of the barn has the bigger cages and dog crates over there.

I am sorry I missed this! I noticed some of my broodies get confused and just start pecking if I mess with the chicks under her. They sometimes will peck the chick too. I think they are in that broody zone where they don't know what they are pecking, they are ticked off because you are messing with her babies. I hope this is just what had happened with your girl.
I would just watch her when she takes them off the nest to be sure she is OK with it.

Thanks NewToFarming, I was just too eager and impatient to see what came out of that last egg!! Here 'tis!

You guys! Every time you post these gorgeous pictures I see something new I just have to have. Sure like the Faverolle cross.
