Naked Neck/Turken Thread

Here's the link that will take you to the last post/page. You can go back a few pages to get to know some of us, etc. See you over there!! How much snow did you end up getting there? I forgot to ask my sister who lives there - we want to come sledding again sometime.

Here's some updated pics of my turken - I think the "air bubble" is going down. It's still off to the side but never went anywhere other than close to the crop. She acts normal, eating, drinking, walking, sleeping, etc.; however, she seems to have kind of runny, watery poo. All the other chicks seem pretty solid after being on the ff. Any reason to worry?

Another question about turkens... any early signs of being pullets or cockerels that are different from other breeds??

I bet it's a girl based on those legs.. So tiny and thin. My NN boys had such FAT legs lol

She looks a lot better now! All that there is her crop. She is one naked chick!

Countrygirl74- we got about 12'' maybe a little more. The snow is really heavy and wet. It's not light and fluffy like most snow is.

I noticed with NN hens it is more dominate with a feathered rooster, then a NN rooster to non NN hens.

I could wrong but that's with my flock.
It's been my exact same conclusion. I found it weird. I never ever hatched a feathered neck chick from my NN girl's eggs. Brian fathered 2 non-naked necked chicks from a regular feathered silkie.

Wonder what Kev says about this. Maybe it is just sheer luck?
