Naked Neck/Turken Thread

Getting NN's from duane urch in like a week or so. Will be posting pics the day they come in.

Get some, you will quickly think they are the most wonderful chickens.

I got started with naked necks all because of McMurray hatchery catalog- ordered just one- just one! in case I did not like how they look along multiples of several breeds.

She quickly became my favorite and even got a name- McMurray. did not continue to keep any other breeds that came with and after her. Currently my flock is over 95% naked necked.

How good are their egg production... I want smaller sizes, are they big... maybe one, funny looking birdie to me...

Here is my very first naked neck, I am so excited to have her. She was $.25 in the straight run bin and she was the last turken. I wasn't going to get any out of there, but she had been there every time I was at the store for like a week, and I just had to have her.

The barnyard mix eggs i hatched last week had two NN in them.The first one I believe is NN (red roo)x NN(white hen)


The second has feathered legs that could only have come from the Partridge Cochin roo x NN hen.


Have any of you made this mix and possibly have a pic or two? I'm very curios to see some examples what it might look like.

Good guesses. The first chick is pure for naked neck so both parents had to have naked necks. If those were the only two naked necks in the flock, no question about this one. But- what kind of comb does it have also the NN in the flock?

They are good producers. Often are laying when the others are not it seems. Yeah they are big but if you have barred rocks, RIR etc they won't look so different in size other than the turken might feel much heavier when picked up.
