Naked Neck/Turken Thread

Very easy to make some yourself- you already have black hens.. just breed them with any barred rooster and you will have barred turken babies. Barred is just the barring over a black chicken.

Barring over other colors make birds in various colors with barring, although often the barring is weaker. Creles is the same barring over a red duckwing.. Barred buffs and reds seem to be becoming popular.. I had a really nice looking red barred turken rooster out of cross of barred turken with a New Hampshire.

Whites seem pretty rare.. I had a white bantam rooster(from Duane Urch- he ships eggs and day olds).. have couple pullets and rooster out of him(all cuckoo).. may breed them this year but trying hard to keep numbers low..

Aw, that's a bummer.. Macho had the coolest color ever.. did you ever find out what color he was, genetically? Seems his son has it too...

Haha! If they not supposed to eat OR you do not want them to eat..... all gone in seconds! Grr....

People have made fun of my yard before.. "Hmmm.. birds not in cages, plants are in cages...?"

Hi! Love those blues and blacks! Congrats on the win (for some reason the post didn't show before)! Does Elivira have dark skin up on her neck / back of her head area or just in the pic?
I've got some NN youngsters in the spare room (that should have long since be outside) from the frizz NN green-egger pen that I'll get pics of tonight.
I've got another group of blue/splash frizz NN green-egger girls that are just starting to lay and I'm undecided about where to go with them. Right now, they are in an all-girl pen and when in doubt --- *procrastinate*! (my motto anyway).

I'm so glad there are folks here that appreciate naked necks!
