Naked Neck/Turken Thread

They can be pure, however b/c the naked necked trait is easy to see and pass a lot are crossed. So a chicken w/ a naked neck isn't ness. pure NN, but there are pure NN out there.

Naked Necks are an accepted breed by the American Poultry Association and have a 'standard of perfection' --- so yes a pure breed.
I am seeing people saying that they are just mutt...hate trying to explain that they are PB to those who think they are not

heres my new boy. his comb was dubbed before the previous owner realized that this breed was not supposed to be dubbed. I will be bringing in some good creole colored birds, probably some oegb that I have found that look really really great, and work on his coloring.

Yeah Lisa and Kassaundra answered right. the 'problem' is that 'mutts' are far, far more common than purebreds.

also common for NN birds with obvious mix traits like crests, leg feathering etc being sold as THE breed. after seeing so many like that, could see how someone might think all NN are mutts.

show bred/purebred NN seem to be much more common in Europe. lots of pictures and videos of them at shows, they all have similar type. also some separate breeds with NN like Cou Nu de Forez (all white even legs are white, heavy for meat)

Nice bird. for best crele coloring, breed with red duckwings as crele is barring on a clean red duckwing. don't have to use only creles so if you see a real nice red duckwing, don't be afraid to pass it up for the project. as for creles, hens with salmon breasts and roos showing solid black breasts and duck wings (not crow wing) are best for full and more contrasting colors.
