Naked Neck/Turken Thread

If anyone is willing to sell some chicks, can you please PM me? No eggs, I don't have an incubator yet. May consider older ones, but it would just depend.

I sell day old chicks and ship them.
I have only large fowl, check my pics and if you want to buy some let me know I've already hatched for my self.

It's a shame you are closer (or close enough to pick up), I've got new Naked Neck chicks hatching here every week or so.

Yaaay, another of my Polish x Naked Neck Green-Egger girls just started laying --- pretty pale blue eggs. She's a wild one, though, and I can't get my hands on her. I just hate it that all my PolxNN crosses are so flighty! I can see it from the time they are youngsters in the brooder. Was just noticing they are the ones flying out of the chick pen (2' fence) before they are even fully feathered.
DDD not all Polish are so flighty. I have one named Patricia who is easy to catch. She can not see you coing so if you are quiet, you can catch her. She is noisy though.

Patricia is a good layer also.

I was given a Turken roo. Is there something I need to do special for him in the summer I live in the High Desert and it can get hot here, I am concerned about his exposed skin. Here is a picture of Marty. I thought he was the ugliest thing I ever seen but the more I look at him the more handsome he becomes. He is gentle with my 5 hens. I will be opening up the end of the chicken yard to allow the Roo and two hens that he was originally living with to join the rest of the flock. The other roo seems to be more aggressive than Marty. Tips and advise? I do not want to see either injured and Marty has sooo much skin exposed it worries me. Isn't a beautiful.

Wow!

That is a gorgeous guy!! Congrats on getting him! Wish I could offer some advice, but mine are still in the brooder, haven't had those worries yet myself. I'm sure enough NN folks around here can help, though. ^^

Yes beautiful!

I'm in the lower desert in area where it gets 110-120F every summer. They don't get any care for their necks or anything special other than clean water and access to shade and are totally fine.

I live in the desert as well, we got NN's for that very reason. NN's are heat tolerant, way more then a lot of other breeds. Also NN's are so hearty that if your a first time chicken owner their a very good choice. Have fun you have a very beautiful roo there! Hope mine grow up to be as pritty as he is!!

Thank you all I only wish that his wings had not been clipped, does not appear to have been done correctly either. Will they grow back, my husband says they will but that is an assumption on his part and I am clueless. I am relieved to know he will do fine in our heat. He is a very beautiful bird. My girls are lucky.

Just picked up 7 more TNN day olds. Will have to snap pics tomorrow. I had to run them in the house, turn a bulb on, feed & water, and hit the road for work. No time for anything else. BUT! I've got some colors I feel may be interesting, so I'm curious to see what other ppl think. And it'll be fun to watch them grow and get their feathers to see who's right! :)

You and I both got new ones on the same day :D

I have 5 dominant white NN chicks from coloured egg lines. I have only pea combed chicks, as it brings chances of green eggs up to 95%. Their father this time around was a white leghorn. They are not Homozygous, but they will be much better layers because of the father I suppose!

Pictures to come as well. We plopped them in the playpen and took off to a movie. No time in the morning to take pictures. Has to wait until tonight.
