Naked Neck/Turken Thread

For the most part: Doesn't matter as long as any parent is true NN and not a cross itself, the chicks will all be nn's
Sometimes tho with so many breeds being crossed into NN's you'll have a cross and not realize it then you'll get some really funky birds :-)

If both parents are NN then most chicks will be NN. But if only one parent is NN and that parent has only once copy of the nn gene (genes come in pairs) most likely result will be about 25% offsprrings with some degree of NN. The results are not as clear cut as you think. Breeders need to keep incubating chicks for a long time if they want some specific results. DDD, Kev and Aoxa incubate/incubated lots of chicks to arrive at their goal. But if all you want is a few birds with naked necks, it will be not so hard.

Cheers

all I want to do is mate my girls but I don't want to keep loads of cockerel breeds so for a few more NNs just for my flock I was hoping to cross to my normal Roo with NN Pullets

Good luck! Have fun would be interesting to see what they look like, be sure to post lots of pics when they hatch!!

Kewl! Got any of them spitzhauben or houdan Roos you want to sell? :-)
Don't have any at all, the hens I have have those parentage. If you would like a chick I probably will have extras of those.

Forgot which thread I was on thought I was on the Okie thread, I don't ship live chickens.

If mother is Homozygous being crossed with a regular (non-NN) rooster, I think it's 100%, at least all of mine hatched were with NN. Now Brian was Heterozygous. He bred a silkie and neither had NNs.

Could just be chance that I hatched only NNs from my Homozygous (two copies - extra naked) hens.

Some pictures of Lucy sunbathing....

Life is tough for a chicken....

Some recent chick pics

Top pic: what's with the huge bulge near the collar bone? Mine have that too and one day it was HUGE but it's gone down a lot. That was my older one, so I grabbed all theother babies and they have it, too. So I just thought it was normal?

Bottom pic: what color is that? I think that's what my one is gonna look like. I was told partridge when I bought her, but that is NOT partridge. I think of partridge as black based with irridescant blue, purple, green, gold. Kinda like a Wellsummer.
