Naked Neck/Turken Thread

Finally! Pics of my new birds I got last week and new pics of the older partridge. All of these are pullets. (unless sexed wrong, of course) Splash silkie & partridge TNN. My last Showgirl. IDK what color NN's these are. White? But when I open their wings, they have beige or tan laced in them. Any idea what color these girls might end up being? Will the color molt out and they'll actually be white? I'm also posting 2 pics of them together so you can see one has a bowtie and the other a clean neck w/more of a bare breast. Here are my NN darkies!!! I think this one's a mottled. It's wings, face, beak & legs are a mix of both colors. My older partridge girl: (this IS partridge, right?) The next 3 pics IDK what color it is. Bronzy? They're very pretty! Due to the fact that their heads are rusty looking as well as the wings, I'm hoping that they turn out that way and don't loose it. Anyone know what color it is? This one's supposed to be black. But will the lighter color inthe wings, face, bowtie, and belly all molt out?
Your two light bared ones up there look like my faded partridges did as well as my roo that looks like its red with blue/white barring...

Either this or
400

Could look either way but I'd go with a washed out partridge like mine...

Thanks :) his name is beer.
He's got black feet and a brown/gold barring on saddle back wings and head but a blue/black but lol
Should I breed him? And what color should I breed him to? If I was to breed him to my washed out partridge, what would I get?

Maybe if you can somehow find a gold laced or gold penciled that'd be pretty! Or some sort of a calico? Black is always an option, don't see how white could hurt, but since it could genetically be masking another color you just enver know what you might get. Which is why if you test breed it might not be a bad idea. Maybe blue or red would work, too? And I don't see how the partridge would be a bad option! Try it! You might like it!

I was thinking of breeding him to a buff or a white to see if I could get some with a lighter barring or maybe a black would make a black/gold barring? When he was a day old he was the same color as my other ones but as he got older he got darker and darker... Maybe he will get darker when he gets his new feathers in?

First, the birds were very lucky to find an excellent home with you! Second glad you had already noticed a problem and was treating it. I admit to hesitating a little bit before commenting on the legs. Awesome you already knew about and dusted all of them. I'm impressed if these are all your first chickens?

Personally would not put them together at night, they will fight in the morning when every body comes down off the roosts. That's an unsupervised fight in a confined space if you aren't there. Free range would be best way for them to meet without any barrier between them. Very sorry.. you do have to let them settle the ranking order and only way to prevent that totally is to keep them separated forever.

Sometimes having them right next to each other for a good while will keep the fight to a minimum.. but some hens get really aggravated by the ranking not settled to completion and so they build up a 'war' between the wire and really go at it once they finally meet. That white hen was the one I thought to have some game blood in her, likely game and easter egger mix. Not surprised she's showing a dominant personality.

I'd be curious how others handle the meeting of adult birds?

So being that you are thinking the white hen has game in her would that be the reason she (as well as the brown hen) do not make the same type of chicken cackle I have been hearing from my original hens? I am concerned about the white hen she paces the fence line the girls go over to them daily but she is agitated and this morning she did not allow the brown hen to eat. I had to go back in the yard so she would eat. The hen that she will more than likely battle it out with is Phoebe (in my avatar) she is top hen.

I will feel like Nava if something goes badly. Now is only the top hen she will go for. I have a couple of sweet hearts that are bottom of the order that I am concerned for. How long will I have to watch them in the yard before it is safe to leave them alone. Not liking the white hen so much she's looking like soup for someone, gave the roo away yesterday and he was going to be put in a pot. Gonna be tough the mom in me is going to have a hard time not stepping in

Been at this since 5-2011 we have 1 left of the original 3, roo was put out of his misery (became very aggressive with people and hens) and the other hen was laying internally so my husband put her down, she was really hard. Happened really quick. Thank you Kev for all your help.
