Naked Neck/Turken Thread

Hi! That's her right?

Don't worry too much about making exact matches.

Here's a picture of a wheaten colored hen- she is about typical but It does vary a little bit. Light body, with some patterning, at least some color on tail- there are many with grayish color on tail instead of black. Blue wheaten hens will have blue on their tail, it will be hard to tell which is which without knowing if it's normal wheaten variation or is actually blue.

Here's a wheaten rooster:

With wheatens, it often is relatively easy to sex them early as the girls stay light and any darker color follows the adult wheaten hen pattern while the boys often start showing some dark coloring quite early on and soon get a "patchy" look:

I have a couple with yellow legs, is that just a personal preference thing or is this a show thing?
I also have a roo(red) with white/pink legs is this something I should cull or keep?

It's totally personal preference how you breed your own birds.

The reason for yellow legs is it was decided by the folks who set up the Standard was to make NN a yellow skinned breed. Yellow legs is simply the yellow body skin showing through on the legs.

There's two main chicken skin colors- white and yellow. Your white/pink legged bird just has the white skin and as a result his legs are white instead of yellow. No big deal if not breeding to SOP.

Flower- what's up in the Arizona desert? Settled in and growing things yet?

And yes that's her she also has a sister exactly the same just not a sweet and gentle as her more "flighty" won't jump on my lap to be petted or eat out of my hand like perrty does...my flock has taken to following me around the yard it's so cute! It's a miny chicken stampede when mommy comes with table scraps :D

Chicks from Dipsy's eggs! I have never had chicks with fuzz so thick before. When can I tell if they will be frizzled? They are 3 days old in the pic.
