Yes, the "hooda" is just the name given the NN x houdan that the guy who crossed them gave them. I have two hooda, thing 1 and thing 2 since I can't tell them apart here is a picHooda? As in is it mixed w/a Houdan?? What a great idea! How cute that would be! My daughter has a Houdan named Horrace and we have nothing to breed him to. Maybe it'd be cute to breed him to our black NN pullet! What do you mean it was Sc carrier? And they're all so lovely! Thanks for the pics!![]()
The NN that was their father was dark skinned, if your NN is regular light skinned your hooda will not be dark skinned like these. They are completely black, b/c it take two mottled to show, so the only way you'll get the mottled is to breed the offspring back to the mottled parent.
Sc is a gene that when combined w/ the NaNa gene can produce completely naked chickens. It takes both parents to be carriers for Sc, so far I only have one male carrier, Jaxom, but I do have one of his offspring also a carrier from the last batch, but she isn't old enough to lay yet.
