Naked Neck/Turken Thread

I'm not big on Naked Necks but I had to share that a white Naked Neck took Champion Largefowl. Was really neat to see the breeder so excited!

The breeder is Edgar Haworth. I know we all wanted the title but I'll be darned if I've ever been so happy for a breeder to beat me. That bird was awesome and was in excellent condition. He had blacks, blues and whites, an excellent display of birds!

Oh I remember that name, when the NN Club was still active and sending newsletters. He must have been breeding his NN for quite a long time. No wonder that bird looks so good.

Any chance of pictures of his other birds?

Thanks for being happy for him- that's awesome sportsmanship.

Unfortunately, none by me but I do think a friend of mine took some photos. It might be a bit before I can get those for you. I believe he is also going to the Shawnee Poultry Show so should have some there.

He had been doing them for quite some time from what I heard. When they announced who it was, everyone clapped. It was really neat to see a breeder almost lose it and skipping down the aisle! Too cool. I felt as though I was watching history and that bird and breeder deserved it.

I have a question for those of you who have Naked necks, There has been one living at our church for almost 2 months now, we were hoping he belonged to someone who lived close by but doesn't seem that it is. So tomorrow I am going over and try to catch him and bring him home. This is a roo, have no idea how old but he appears to be healthy, [some of us have been taking feed and water for him] I really like him but I am not sure how he is going to work out with my flock, I have LF hens [15] mostly with 2 cochin bantam hens in the mix and 2 roosters to go with them one is a cochin bantam the other bantam /game. After the quarantine
what do ya'll think of him blending into my flock will he want to kill my bantam roo? and also my  game./bantam roo?
I have no way of separating my flock they are all together in a very large fenced are. with coops in there. He is so big I am just a little nervous for my roos and also my bantam hens. I tried very hard to find him a home even contacting farm rescues but no one can take him, and I just can't leave him to fend for himself over the winter. Any comments.

Oh yay! I'm glad you're bringing him home! I wondered how that situation turned out from your rehoming post. :D And I agree with the others, just less eloquently :gig. My NNs are the biggest (and I mean this literally and figuratively) babies. I keep one group of them (2 roos there) in with the "main crowd" which includes at least 5 or 6 other young roos and some mature hens who pick on them to no end. And 2 grown NN roos live happily with another big Brahma roo and the ducks! They're on the bottom of the pecking order, ducks included! So I agree, if anything I'd be more concerned for your others picking on that handsome dude, but they'll sort themselves out eventually. Do post pics some time of the lucky guy! ;) :D

Hey Shay baby yep I went this morning and got him it was so easy I am thinking miracle, I did use my Brahma hen as bait and it worked. so he is now down using my storage shed as temp home with fencing around so he can be outside, So I know I made a boo boo in using my hen to catch him but hopefully it will all be okay, my game rooster flew over the fence and is now down there visiting him through the fencing so quarantine is now blown anyway, but I will still keep him away from every one. Well here's pics.

What a handsome dude! Looks like one of my guys, just floofier. Looks like he may have some Light Sussex or other columbian in him. Here's to hoping everyone gets along! :)
