Okay I have got better pics of the horn combed "girl"

She is part houdan and based on nostrils had her pegged as a boy from hatch, but this comb is so tiny I have hope for a girl.









If she is a girl I was thinking about naming her Ardra. Any STNG fans get it?????

Well after trying to keep my chickens a safe distance for my new NN/mix rooster, haha what a joke even my bantam roo flew over the no climb horse fence and barb wire to see the new guy. then they decided to have a go at each other through the fence. Both bloody, I had to spray them to get them to quit. So now that quarantine is blown to bits. How long should I wait before letting him actually be out with the flock? I now know there is going to be some confrontations so I'll be ready for it. I have never brought in a rooster they have all been hatched here and extras eaten.

Spunky, here are the pics I promised, they aren't good ones I was in a hurry and never did get a good shot of the darkest one. These 3 are boys and are the most naked of the batch.


front is Light, rear and blurry is dark, he is mostly black but just starting to get some white lacing, I think he is going to look birchen


Medium, the kinda barred looking one, he isn't barred really since I have no barred in the flock, maybe Kev would know what he is going to look like.

Yes I still have light. I will need to find out from Gary what he is up to Sat since I will be at work. He will probably have to meet you in the morning though.

Kassaundra The little mottled Hodan/NN is just gorgeous ! But I'd "take" any of your birds !

Miss Lydia Looks like you have lost your battle keeping your new rooster isolated. I guess you can keep trying but good luck. Unless birds are in a closed container it is difficult to keep them confined. At least that is what I have experienced. The one time I thought that a new bird was isolated and really should have been, a horrible wind storm arrived and blew the coop and fences over. That new bird had mites and that was the only time any of my flock needed to be treated for anything. And I hope the last time but you never know.

They are pretty, bet they will make wonderful chicks. Usually it is the young girl married off to the old man!!!!!!!

spunkychickenmomm Boy do you fit right in with this group of crazy chicken peeps. We love different ! Your hens are very pretty. I love polish/silkie/NNs. What fun !
I do not have rooster at this time but I do have some pretty hens. If I do get another rooster it would have to be a NN !

I see postings every once in a while for Oshamo chickens and I wonder what a NN cross would look like? I can only imagine.
