Best,
Karen
Thanks love, hope you still don't hate me for laughing at the foreign Sussex pic from Greenfire farms even though I was not the only one laughing. I would love some Romanian/Hungary Naked Necks imports. Naked Necks are a very popular breed in Greece and a lot of villages people have a Naked Necks,

i think two of my nn's have fowl pox the dry one. they have this wart looking thing on there necks. so far i only see one on each neck. do i need to do something to make it go away?

I didn't read the info yet but isn't it more prevalent in tropical climates?
I'm not certain of that. I've heard of it being just about anywhere. I think it might be more easily developed in housing that is left to get wet and not cleaned out well.

EDIT: I suppose, based on that...tropical climates might leave the birds more open to infection. I'm going to look into it and see what I can find out.

I hope never to have it here! I don't vaccinate for it (or anything else) because I have a closed flock but I might be bringing some new birds in ....better give some thought to this and get some advice from avian specialists.

Will post what I find out.

Just saw your post but I think I read that it can be transmitted from bird to bird and perhps from surfaces...don't remember for sure. Will check that out too.

Looks like Mosquito's are the culprit. And usually found in tropical climates in masses. We do have them here but nothing like other places out of the mountains. And my Muscovy's love them and their eggs.

theuglyduckling I hope your NN get over it quickly. I understand dry isn't near as bad as wet.

hm im not positive that it is that, i will post a photo of it tomorrow. but the best way i cant describe what it looks like it looks like a wart but a big wart like a human wart except it is on the chickens neck. i may be wrong on what it is but i dont understand what else it is. and i do know that chickens here can get it there is somebody else that lives on the island that i talk to on this site and not to long ago her chickens had it too except it was the wet one. and yes we tons of mosquitos.

OUCH, pox, I had that in my flock about five years ago, it wiped out almost all my royal palms and a few chickens.

it was the wet pox.

and yes we got it from mosquitos.

well I have found my buff rock rooster and I think I want to try him out with the hen I got
IM SOOOOOO EXITED.
