Let us hope for a more balanced New Year all round....with regards to weather, conflict, religion and all those things which seem to be creating such chaos right now.
We here had the wettest summer on record, so the grass didn't grow well (the roots need aeration, and the soil was super-saturated). Hay/silage quantities were low and poor quality. the sheep did not grow and fatten as usual. We lost some to pneumonia, and foot rot was, as Marie suggests, a major problem (though this is manageable with formalin foot baths, hoof hygiene and antibiotics). Some just seemed to 'fail to thrive' in spite of giving additional foods. Worms have been a major problem as has liver fluke which has a snail as its secondary host , and there are plenty snails about.
Following the awful summer we have had this awful winter....not cold, just permanently wet. I would prefer the snow, that can be cleared, the mud can't. However, Aoxa...there can be too much of a (relatively) good thing and I would say you have too much of it! I hope it isn't too bitterly cold.
Chicken worms are more prevalent here and the birds are ever more reluctant to move from the coop......they take refuge in the agricultural shed by day. They survive, though.
I understand that large amounts of the States are affected by relative or absolute drought....this is worse than the rain or snow that some of us are seeing in excess. I would like to send you some of ours.....a little redistribution would make a world of difference.
Once again...I hope for a more balanced and peaceful New Year to you all.
Cynthia, the message is spot on.

We can get into several theroies about the bad weather lately. I once googled "bad weather" and got on some sights about HAARP. It is an "earthquake machine" in Alaska. It didn't start out as a weather machine, but as a missile defense device. Anyway, after the earthquake in Hatti a while back, I saw on CNN that the Russians accused the US of using their "earthquake machine". On the websites, it talks about how several governments are experimenting with this machine and said that by sometime in the 2020's, they will be able to control all weather. I have noticed that some of the HAARP websites have been taken off the internet....interesting? Anyway, if you like mysteries, look it up. Who knows what is truth anymore!!Let us hope for a more balanced New Year all round....with regards to weather, conflict, religion and all those things which seem to be creating such chaos right now.
