I think you were the only one in the whole state of GA that shared my passion for the NN's!!!

There is not many of us.My friend always liked them and frizzles and I used to tell him that I would not have any of those in my yard.The naked neck bug bit me when I seen some of his naked neck bantams that ended up coming to my house.Then the frizzle bug bit me when I saw Dipsy Doodle Doo's frizzles and my first sizzle.Don't want none of those boring chickens.BTW, I had chicks hatch last week,will post pics soon.Everything going alright in Pennsylvania?

That is the same with me.Around here everybody wants the boring egg layers.There is also a demand for gamefowl and bantams. I like the unusual and what I raise is for me. 

same around here, most of my birds are for me, but they still have to help pay for thier food, I mostly sell eggs, for eating or hatching. Everyone around me wants reds, "domineckers", or sexlinks. So Ive got a big red rooster and getting some red and barred rock chicks so I'll have a pen of reds and black sexlinks that I can sell eggs or chicks from.
I thought about silkies, I like the black skin, but not the cotton ball-likeness. I do have a few silkied birds that arent the Silkie breed, but no black skinned birds, yet. I got a pair of bantam cochins instead, the rooster is frizzled.
Wish there was somewhere sround here that have the black bone chickens, I have heard of a few breeders somewhere in the US with Ayem Cermani (sp?), but those eggs/chicks would cost a fortune

2 little chicks would not survive shipping, esp this time of year. Thats why mot hatcheries have a 25 chick minimum, and will also include extra chicks.

Yes that is one, and the other is a big nice red hen that I raised.

SO sorry to hear NNs are not popular in the US. NNs are increasing in popularity in the British Isles (we lot are known for having eccentric tastes), though they are still pretty rare here. I keep them because I like their quirky looks and non-aggressive characters. Sorry to hear that some of you folk are ditching the breed. due too their unpopularity. I also keep Brahmas and La Flèche, but the former have gigantic appetites and really do cost a fortune to keep.

I live too far from population centres to sell birds and transport of live animals is VERY expensive here unless you can do it yourself.

Eggs seem to sell well on eBay and I might try that in the coming summer (if it ever comes). I have been saying this for some time now, though, and have never done it yet.

I would really like to find out exactly which hen created that. I know that my rooster was barred, but he probably carried another color as he threw alot of different colors with the various colored hens I had. Black, red, buff, black with red on her, and one that I called birchen her dad was a Iowa Blue and I think her mother was a black NN hen, anyway she had alot of lacing on her breast.
I have never gotten a rooster with that coloring, so am wondering what color to pair her with to recreate the coloring. If you should ever figure out the recipe for it let me know.

I have been MIA for a while now. I am getting ready for breeding season and have a question. I have 4 beautiful black NN Hens. One has black skin, one has feathered feet and the other 2 just have the black feathers and naked necks. I also have a very handsome Silver Pheonix Roo that is in with them. I am new to breeding and would like to know what I might expect to get if I hatched out these eggs. 3 of the hens are laying, but not sure which 3. They just started laying last week. I am not quite ready to hatch yet, I want to get a new incubator and need to build a brooder. I am kinda excited about these 2 breeds coming together though!
