Naked Neck/Turken Thread

Quote: Can you (or anyone) show me the differences and tell me what they are? By bearded do you mean that ball of fluff on their necks? Cuz I've seen some with and without that ball of fluff. Excuse my ignorance, we all start at ground zero and work our way up. I've had chicks for all of 2 weeks and am already going insane wanting more! LMBO!

No the ball of fluff on the necks is called a bow tie. NN have a gene responisble for the amount of feathering if they get one copy (Nana) they have the large bow ties and more body feathering, but it they get both copies (NaNa) they will have little or no bow ties. A beard is not a true NN trait, it will only be on those mixed w/ a bearded breed.

The chick on the left has a bow tie and a beard see the fluff just under her beak, that is a beard, the chick on the right has a bow tie but no beard

this chick on the right has almost no bow tie

side view of a chick w/ beard and bow tie

another view of beard and bow tie

this one has little/no bow tie, and the tiniest beard/muff just under the beak, really hoping this one is a girl.

I think this is a boy but still not sure

Carrot tops quite often crop up in light birds.

Light chicks with light (not yellow nor pigmented ) skin grow up to look like Ginger Nut here.
