This is our LGD Harry. He's an amazing boy, took ALOT of work for him to realize the chickens weren't toys but it payed off! He's protective of any animal we have and won't let any other person or animal in our yard! Also protective with our young children. The other day he grabbed ahold of my pant leg and wouldn't let me go, that's when I heard it the dreaded rattle!! If I would have taken another step I would have gotten bit! He definitely is the best dog I've ever had! Can you believe he was free?
I have a new set of NN babies. They weren't scheduled for lockdown until today, and hatch day Tues, but they started hatching yesterday. 3 so far, I haven't seen them since I've been gone to work, my husband had to help 2. My brinsea is an awesome incubator but a crappy hatcher, it shrink wraps the chicks 90% of the time. I really need to get a hatcher before the next batch. Anyway he said one of the ones he helped seemed very weak, so we'll see what is there and alive when I get home later this morning.

I hope the others make it, it's always sad when a chick dies seems like such a wasteThe one Gary thought was going to die did, all three are NN, of the two surviving both are light skinned one w/a bow tie one w/o. The one w/ a bow tie is black and white like a penguin, the other is dark feathered. Hoping the cleaned necked one is female and Sc carrier.Oh and at least two more are pipping.![]()

The other two out are strong and lively. I know my incubator is easy to shrink wrap and so I schedule hatches for when I am home so I can help. I have had to help almost all our chicks out of the shell, now that I am home and know they are pipping I can keep a close eye and not let it go so far, that one died b/c it was shrink wrapped and trying to long.I hope the others make it, it's always sad when a chick dies seems like such a waste![]()

I have the eco 20, it is a chronic problem w/ mine from the first hatch. I had a horrible first hatch b/c of all the advise to be hands off during lockdown they all shrink wrapped, so the next and all subsequent hatches I decided to watch carefully and help out whenever needed, so my lockdown is a matter of a time during incubation (last 3 days) not an actual lock down since if I do they all die. I have only lost one after deciding to help them.Congrats on the chicks! Hope you get another Sc carrier, too! We need pics soon.![]()
Out of curiosity, which Brinsea do you have? I have a little mini and it shrink wrapped and killed all of my last batch so I'm wondering if this is a common problem.
