The male more rounded dome shape the female flatter less rounded on top???? Is that what you are seeing?

Yep...pretty much. This works a lot but is not fool proof...I've been fooled before...lol

Well if someone put a gun to my head and made me guess, that is what I would have guessed too based on stance. I hate to guess on stance from one snap shot though, but when you can watch them for a while you can get a good idea from stance.

When I think about it..I may have considered that too, subconsiously. With all that, it's nothing more than an educated guess...like you I've seen bunches of 'em. lol Might likely still be wrong!

I have a pen of Plymouth Rocks --- Barred Rock hens and Blue Rock guy --- that makes sex-linked chicks. It is kind of sad to look at a bunch of day-old chicks in a brooder and see that most of them are male. Makes me sad and cranky!

They are the cutest things. I thought the ones that start getting in their wing feathers the quickest were females?

This is our 1st Chicken Hatch EVER . . . When can I put shavings in ? 1 week old yesterday eat and drink no problems.
