Naked Neck/Turken Thread

Well, it happened again. Saw one of the renters looking at the chickens. So I went down to talk (I love talking about my chickens!) and one of the first things she asked was, "What's wrong with those few chickens? Do they have a disease?" LOL, she was asking about my Naked Neck (Turkens) chickens!!! I told her they were a breed of chicken that don't grow feathers on their necks. I'm not sure she believed me or not! LOL. I guess she is wondering why I would want such a type of chicken. Well, I love my Naked Necks! Especially my fizzled ones! And mine lay such nice blue or green eggs!

Your NNs are so beautiful! I'm envious. Mine are only 2 weeks old but I think they have the biggest personalities.

Got some photos of ours in the coop today. They love it. I month old and full of it.

This is the white NN cockerel. he is the only one that stayed white, however he still has grey coming into his feathers.

Only 2 of the black chicks stayed black And our leg horn cockerel is in the photo with them.

Well how is this for color:

This was supposed to be a Naked neck although it didn't get the gene. I first thought a pullet but now I'm thinking cockerel.

Pretty birds!

Flowerbh- It's funny how people jump to conclusions about NN huh? One repeat customer for peafowl never said anything about the NN however when I talked to his wife(who never visited), turns out he had assumed they were feather plucked.. a friend of nephew's went home and told his parents I shaved the necks on my chickens...

It might be fun to make up a little something.. I've told people they were bred in Transylvania as protection against vampires... the little bowties were pop plugs to their jugulars... some of the reactions

were priceless but that's probably just my dark humor.
