Naked Neck/Turken Thread

Kassaundra...Is your cock's beak short and stout as it appears to me or is the wattle causing an optical allusion?

He looks fairly large...what would you say he weighs; how tall do you guess he might be?

Thanks.

Turk

I forgot to make clear that I like the short heavy beaks, especially on a cock bird....speaking of which, I like this young fella too.

My plan is to move my birds to pea combs or something near it for several reasons, not the least is the factor pea comb, etc, is in direct correlation with those that produce birds with fewer feathers or so I'm told.

I can attest to the pea comb lesser feathering, this guy is very sparsely feathered. I was keeping him as an option, but sadly he is no more. We had a preditor attack early morning in the yard, we have set out traps but not got him yet, and adjusted the time of the pop door so it is later to open in the morning. I like the pea combs too.

Shakespear I'm not sure if his beak is short, I will check that out, not sure if it really is or just how it looks w/ the lighting and angle of that shot.

Sorry about the loss...I hope you kill the preditor ...SOON! We let out/lock up our birds manually. I just don't have faith in the automatic doors yet and I may never.

Wanted to share my little guy's photo from today. He is watching an airplane fly over. They turned 7 weeks today. His little girlfriend in in the back on the left. All three chicks hatched from green eggs but the turken is the only one with a pea comb. He's looking for a home if anyone is interested. Super nice cockerel that has a wheaten Marans for a dad.

My broody NN has got 4 chicks! The rest of her eggs are peeping! Sadly no NN chicks yet but I hope for one...
10/11 hatched. She left the last egg in the nest and it was still pipping (and alive), so I put it under the heat bulb (don't have an incubator) and it hatched! I am going to try and put it under her tonight while she is sleeping.
