What's the best way to tell boy from girl with nn?
Do they get redder combs/wattles faster or is there something else to look for?

Hard to say for sure. The pullets seem to get as red as the boys. I usually wait until they're 3 to 4 weeks old and then I pretty much can pick them out, just a feel for it. Though I have guess wrong on a few occasions.

I made Rudy an outfit, today nothing fancy, just a first attempt, it will work for fall / transition getting him used to wearing clothes and all I will need something warmer and weather resistant for winter. Just getting used to chicken anatomy for clothing making and on just 3 hours of sleep. It kinda looks like a kimono, and I tried to find something close to his color for his first outfit so the other chickens would still recognize him. I will post some pics later.

Well tonight when we did bed check his pants were still in place but he ditched his shirt somewhere, so guess it is back to the drawing board.

RUDY needs something more like a MOO-MOO but with pantaloon-type leggings..... sort of a one piece thingy or, bring him into the house for winter.

And of course, he'll heed a special close-fitting comb cover.
