Naked Neck/Turken Thread

Yes, it could get one copy from each parent and be homozygous for NN :)

Thanks, I thought so because Imve got some chicks niw that have smaller bibs/neckties than their patents. The parents have pretty bug bibs that cover most if the front of neck.

I know I'm late to the party, life has interfered w/ my byc time. Some posts a while back about slow feathering nn / ee crosses. All my slow feathering nn/ee crosses have had pea combs AND were male, just a heads up from my experience.

He took a chunk out of my brahma pullets comb and he just runs around the yard being overly aggressive. My little barnyard mix rooster does great with the girls but this guy is just a bully. Problem solved. I brought home my old showgirl rooster i had given away and he will be taking a permanent place with the flock and the turken and barnyard mix will be going away shortly.

To many good boys out there to put up w/ a bad boy. No matter how pretty, it just isn't worth it imo.

I tried for 2 hours today to video tape Turken around the other NN's and she was having nothing to do with it. Here is the video I hope it works ok. Or at least one of the many videos I did today I got 3 uploaded today and still have about 4 more to go

I did a perfect video today of Stormy and came in and thought it was on there and for some reason it didn't save it on the memory card. So then I looked and Hope and Junior wasn't on there either. Maybe the sun will be out tomorrow so I can get some more videos of them. Junior is now almost 4 months old and getting huge, like his dad.

I tried to get my little Rose today and she saw the video camera and took of running in the opposite direction. Maybe tomorrow I can get a video up of her running away from me. She was interested in the shiny new camera but when I pointed it at her and she saw it stuck to my face she took off. Junior wasn't scared though I got the closest close up possible of him with his face right in the camera.

Congrats!

btw even as soon as they come out of the shell and are still wet, the difference is visible. The pure ones have either no fuzz on necks or what looks like a single down-feather on each side of neck. Also the naked areas on the body are larger- belly, two parallel spots on back, armpit area and also around the face.. and on the comb area on pea combed birds. try to compare pea to pea NN separately from single comb to single comb NN though. A not pure NN chick with pea can look more naked than either not pure NN single or even a pure single comb NN.

if both parents are single copy NN then only 25% will be pure NN.
