Naked Neck/Turken Thread

I pinion all my muscovys at a 2 or 3 days old. I just snip one wing tip with a pair of scissors at that age there is not even a spot of blood. As adults they don't even fly over a 5 foot fence but I think they could if they wanted to.

Very good looking red. What does he weigh? Guesstimate is even good. Do you run any Naked Neck hens with him?

My mom had muscovies here ad I do like them, better than any other duck or goose for that matter. With so few chickens here now, I don't suppose there will be any real harm in having them here, so long as she permits me or her to keep the flock thinned.

I do like the taste of the breasts and of course, the feet. The rest of the body, including the foot broth makes for excellent soup, especially Schezwan style. Now....that would warm me up!

Same here, if I were to get ducks again it would be muscovies and nothing else.. except maybe for some shelduck species.

They are delicious! Especially in yellow curry, mmm! Never knew their feet were eaten though.

Hmm...I don't even have a guess on weight, but here is a picture of him next to some of my girls. They are all the same age. He's my only adult naked neck right now, I have a very mixed flock.

So a few of you may remember me from my week here, but here is what I have learned about the breed since I started with them:
Pluck their necks about a week before show
Breeding them to any breed will still make a possable show bird especially if it is a BLRW but, you must watch for rose comb
They are the roosters favorite, 1 turned into 9
The breed is very interesting, following you around, having little human interaction then a bath and going to show and rocking it
I could breed these birds if I wouldn't have killed my two roosters
