Naked Neck/Turken Thread

My babies are 3 1/2 weeks old now and everything is COVERED in dust (I've given up cleaning the living room until they are outside lol!)Tthey are not friendly in the least so I'm pretty sad about that (I hold them every day and constantly talk to them to no avail), they scream and try to commit suicide just to get away from me and they even try pecking my hands when I get near them but they are still so cute! I let them outside (for about the last week now) for several hours in the afternoon and they love that! I've gotten them to stand on my legs when sitting down while holding food but I have to sit completely still or they run away. I still have no idea what color they will be since they keep changing almost every day. I have been reading every single post from the beginning (I'm on page 50 of 125) and have seen so many chicks that look identical to mine as babies but no updated colors. If anyone still has theirs from either ideal or privet hatchery (I don't remember where my feed store gets them but it's one of these two) can you post yours as adults so I can see? I'm not going to care what color they turn out but I would like to just see a possible preview

Gertrude - she was solid light buff but recently started to get a tiny amount of black on her feathers. She was the meanest but has now become better than the rest. She will willingly lay on my legs and sleep cuddled up to my arm (I can't move or pet her but she doesn't want me just for food at least

Virginia - the prettiest and was my favorite/the sweetest, falling asleep in my hands while holding her but now is the most aloof. She doesn't try to peck me but rarely will get on my legs for food, she'd much rather chase bugs or scratch in the dirt to find her food then take the easy way and eat the readily available stuff! She is the one I'm most interested in her adult color since she keeps getting more/different colors almost daily

Beatrice and no name yet - Beatrice is the only fully naked neck and is super ditsy. Both these girls are the most flighty. Beatrice will run and chase seemingly nothing most of the time all by herself. The others will be eating and she'll be off running around like a crazy.

Mable and no name yet - Mable is the smallest and is so cute when she drinks water, she puts her head way back and closes her eyes while drinking. She's also pretty sweet and follows what everyone else does.

So if anyone had chicks from privet or ideal hatcheries and had chicks that looked like these that are adults, I'd love for you to send updated pictures so I have sort of an idea what these Chickosaurs will look like as adults! I'd really appreciate it and I hope you enjoy the chick pics

I got them from a local feed store at a couple days old (the day they got them in) and I can't remember if they get their birds from privet or ideal (they told me once) but they are from the same hatchery, all of them

Thank you. They are fine looking birds and for what it's worth, I think they relly are ll pullets. Lots of folks get the surprising gargle or the pubescent crowing amongst their 'pullets'...I think you're safe...

Don't worry if your birds are psychos at this age. They will start to calm down a bit as they get older. You can also start feeding them treats from your hand. I give mine a small bowl of treats several times a day. Now they come running to me when they see me coming. Mine really like broccoli and are also eating chopped banana and cucumber. I'll start giving them vegetables like corn and peas pretty soon. Grass cutting from the yard are also good. My past chicks have loved cantaloupe and rice. Give them food and they will think you're momma.

Don't worry about their lack of friendliness right now; it will change in the future. I've found that even my friendliest chicks become a bit aloof if not downright skittish at this age, which is kind of understandable given all the changes they're going through. Once they discover their wing feathers allow them to fly and reach new heights they don't seem to want to be inhibited by us silly humans who insist on snuggling with them. Once they get comfortable with all of their changes their focus shifts and they calm down quite a bit. My flightiest pullet is now one of my most affectionate lap chickens and allows me to handle her completely without the slightest resistance.
