Fibro is the shortened word for fibromelanistic, it is the dark (black or grey) skin, flesh, organs, bones

Kassaundra, I'll be keeping that in back of my Mind, will the pairing of Wt Silkie Hen with Black Skinned , NN sm Bow produce Showgirls, ?

I just picked up a turken rooster yesterday cause it looked weird and I like a mixed flock buy I was wondering how good a breed are they with kids and families are they friendly or what he's about 4 months old now

Mine jump up on my lap to snuggle with me. They barely know my husband and son, and most are nearly as affectionate with the two of them. I have one cockerel that went after my husband this past weekend when he entered their pen rather unexpectedly and assertively without me, but that's the only incident I've experienced with them. A friend of ours just brought his 9 year-old son out to buy some chicks from me. I walked the boy over to my NNs and one of the pullets immediately ran over to him so he could pet her, charming the boy completely. Like any breed, how you raise and manage them can make a difference, but in my experience this is one of the sweetest, friendliest breeds out there.

I have at least 2 pips this afternoon, hoping for a much better hatch this time around. 24 eggs made it to lock down, 2 or 3 looked iffy, but I only pull definite quiters or no goes. I have 3 wanna be moms waiting in the wings.

Congratulations!

My news 1 of six New Years hatch pullets started laying today! Yea for new layers.

@Kassaundra , has anything hatched already?

@draye , congratulations!

I was up most of the night birthing chicks. Have 7 in the temporary "brooder" that look really good, one is scsc and the oddest thing I ever did see. 8 more are in icu in the bator still 2 of those are still partially "in the shell" and I think 2 if I'm remembering right (maybe 3) are scsc some of those in icu may not make it, still not sure about most of those. The other 8 were late quitters
