Naked Neck/Turken Thread

Well, it hit 108ºF and about 42% humidity at my house today. All of my chickens are struggling at least a little and some quite a bit, but my NNs are weathering it the best, once again confirming in my mind that all of my chickens could benefit from a healthy dose of NN blood. Right now I'm just trying not to lose any of them (or myself) to heat stroke. Ice, ice baby!

I think I got my first green egg from my 19 week old turken/legbar pullet yesterday. Today I'll be stalking the nest boxes to find out for sure!

what did you cross, NN female/legbar male or NN male/legbar female?

I have similar temperature here but without humidity - thank god for that. my NN pullet stays all day long in an old oven dish full of water, lol.

My pullet is from a Legbar hen and a Turken/EE rooster. Some of my other legbar crosses lay tinted eggs (not green) so clearly my Legbars are not pure. No egg today...maybe tomorrow.

it was 58 today and solid rain. I think it rained a couple of inches today. My flock spent 30 minutes outside and then all crammed in to a horse stall for the rest of the day. Wimps!

It hit 80* here today and I was struggling....just a bit. If I were forced to live in such a place like yours, I'd have nothing but NNs. If I didn't have kids, there's a good chance that's all I'd have here...

Looks like i am going to have 2 very strong showgirl roosters here. They have plenty of bow tie but otherwise they are perfect. These toes have better spacing and formation than their dads did.
