Naked Neck/Turken Thread

Good afternoon all, I've not tried the scrambled eggs but I will.

What I've come up with is using One Bite as a bait on the rat trap. Now One Bite is extremely poisonous and I don't want rats leaving with the bait and poisoning anything else so my wife has sewn small bags of meshing. We used a gallon paint strainer to make them. Using latex gloves I've zipped tied these bags with One Bite onto the trap trip plate. Make sure it's secure. I have not lost a bait bag yet and I've caught 3 rats on the same bait bag in the last 3 months. Peanut butter did not work.
Also because rats will sometimes leave with the trap I've screwed the trap to a shelf where I've seen them traveling. If anyone is interested I can get pictures before and after.

the rats we have here don't come near trap. last year I put a piece of meat and they didn't try to take it. I mixed chickens feed with gypsum and only small mice ate it and died. there is no safe place for me to put anything as my chickens are in the corner of my property and can get into it. I will see if I can figure out something with scramble eggs. but I will mix some gypsum just in case.

Do these look like the same color? I'm not really color blind but sometimes I don't think my eyes pick up the same colors as others.

they do look similar although it is hard to compare the pics taken in different places and with different cameras.

I couldn't resist sharing some "selfie" pics of me and my big NN rooster Snape here - we had a cuddle session in the coop this evening when right in front of me he went after the littlest girl against her will - she is so little and has a nearly bare back (I need to sew some aprons). I scooped him up off of her back to interrupt him and we had some quality time together while we gave the girls a break. (I don't consider him a pet or treat him that way, but he actually really enjoys a good snuggle every so often...)

I forgot to mention We have had huge succes at the barn with an electric rat trap. We caught the momma on day one and cleaned up her litter two or three at a time over the next couple days. Pappa came by a bit later. 12 rats over a 2 week period. It was baited with Horse cookies.

They are pricey but I would have to say well worth it.

Do any of you have experience with sumatras? I started to like the breed, but I want to know how do they act. Are they agressive, flighty, tame, almost wild or whatever. And do hens tend to go broody?

Are they completely black and carry fm or they just have gipsy face?

I've stopped feeding free will. Making sure feed is finished every meal. That has helped at the coops. Now they are drawn to the barn where the feed is stored. Their population has become much more controllable since the 24/7 smorgasbord has been closed.

The One Bite poison is extremely effective here as it has an attractant in it for them. Some say it doesn't work for them but I've had good success with it. Problem is its too strong and has been banned here in California due to its second kill capabilities. That's why I put it on the trap securely. No other bait works for me.

Mini Meat has suggested the electric trap. I'm going to find out more about it as I really don't think the traps get all. As of late no holes in feed bags. I will try to contain the food in containers

The scrambled eggs sounds good.

What does the gypsum do?

Did you get your trap at Home Depot, who's the manufacturer if I may ask
