Naked Neck/Turken Thread

Hey gang!
 Just wanted to follow up some interesting news, I emailed S&G about their NN, and it seems the rumors are correct;

Thank you for your email.  We sold our NN hatching eggs to Dunlap Hatchery in Idaho in the Spring.  We are no longer filling catalog/mail orders.  We maintain all of our genetics.

Just figured I'd give you guys a heads up, in case anyone was planning on getting chicks from them in 2017!

I guess since Cackle offers the Turkeys, Geese, Guineas AND they have the NN bloodlines we want, I guess we'll be going with them.

Well, if they insist on practically putting them on my doorstep, I suppose I will have to order a batch from dunlap.

I got 15 NNs from Cackle this spring after they were recommended as being the biggest from a regular hatchery. Customer service was great. All arrived healthy and stayed healthy. A mix of colors, didn't get any barred, red, black, white, red/black, brownish/partridgish. Two pullets have clean necks, few have small bowties, some have big bowties. They say 10% of their hatch has feathered necks but they only send clean necked, I took that as feathered as in bow tie and they only send clean necked. Apparently what they mean is they must be getting 10% fully feathered necks from their hatches. I'll only be breeding the one's with no or small bowties.

Hmm, now I'll have to see what Dunlap has to offer.

Interesting, I've never considered buying hatching eggs from a hatchery, they're usually ridiculously priced. Dunlap's egg prices are pretty good, they even offer NN hatching eggs, haven't seen other hatcheries offer NN eggs. I doubt I'll get any, just go with what I have for now.

I've heard a lot of good things about Cackle, I've heard countless stories about their customer service being really good, so I'm excited to place my first order with them. When we ordered chicks for FFA, we normally went with ideal and I was always so dis-pleased with what I got, so I'm excited!

Since I have a tendency to have a bit of OCD and prefer uniformity, I was excited to order from S&G since they carried one variety really, but I'm excited to see what assortment of babies I get lol

I think you'll be very happy with Cackle. They are my favorite hatchery.

Usually you get a variety of colors on the NN's. The last time I ordered from them I got mostly uniform colors which was very unusual. It all turned out very well though.

Interesting thank you for the information. Sounds like Cackle will have the larger NN.

Hi guys! I need some expert naked neck sexing help. The first two birds hatched on 7/27 and came from Cackle Hatchery pre-sexed female. The last 3 are about 1-2 weeks younger and are NN/Americauna crosses from a local Hatchery. Sorry for the bad photos...they're pretty wiggly.

I think so as well! (they recently added pics of the S&G birds up on the NN page, so I'm gonna be very excited if I see some black-tailed buffs. :P )
