Naked Neck/Turken Thread

Well, I thought I had my own housing scenario all figured out...and then I won an auction for Silver Gray Dorking hatching eggs. If I somehow manage to have a decent hatch, I plant to make the SGDs my heritage breed to work with, so not I'll have my NN projects....and a whole new breed to accommodate. Why do I do this to myself?

I'm sending you some giant eggs in the spring so have fun

I shouldn't laugh, been missing having ducks, had lots of them before we moved to a place with a nice pond, but lots of predators with no more free range dog so no more ducks...
Thinking of fencing in the ducks and putting in invisible fencing for the dogs, might have ducks again this spring....

@Beer can , I would really like to see your giants, there are not many of white ones on the net.

Not very many here either, couple hatcheries but probably not very good. The one's I got was a max order of ten, so not much to work with. They are from a closed flock from a original breeder yrs ago, need work but a good start. After I got them I found a breeder of black/blue/splash, that just started with whites awhile ago and from what I've heard has good stock, in Pennsylvania that's not real far from me and sells chicks and hatching eggs. She's the vice president of the National Jersey Giant Club. I might decide to introduce new blood down the road.
I don't have any new pics but here are some from last yr when they were young;
six-seven months?
Sorry about all the non-naked neck pics on a naked neck thread....

His first winter, comb and wattles are a little freezer burnt, healed up nice though

My extra rooster I gave my brother

Some chicks I hatched this spring, they turn white when the grow their feathers in

Broodies

Extra rooster I gave my brother, lived in snow and freezing rain for a month, couldn't catch him, caught him on my predator trail cam though Lol!

Twice the size of the red sussex

The pullet top right is bigger than the red sussex cockerels

Don't remember when I took the pic but it was there first winter and I got them in July, so youngsters.

If you want Welsh Harlequins then hit me up in the spring. I'm planning on getting my NPIP early this spring so I can ship eggs and live birds. I'll need to do some "practice" shipments, so if you want to be a guinea pig...

Maybe. I'm looking for a meat breed. I've had khaki, mallards and pekins, then mix crosses. Was thinking moscovy's but heard they can be nasty. Was thinking maybe cayuga. Heard ancona are friendly and good dual purpose. Just read up on harlequins, guess they're friendly also and dual purpose.

ahh, don't have facebook. I have seen some comments saying some chicken or breed related fb pages can be very active. If that happens for the NN page, let me know..

Ill sure do that.

I just got it up and going yesterday. I've had two or three that asked to join already I added some of the names myself, they're not breeders or even interested in the NN, just kinfolk and friends that know people and trying to get the word out about the group.
