Naked Neck/Turken Thread

That's funny, I just wish Pete would crow at 4:15 and be DONE. Instead, he crows at 4:15, and at 5:15, and at 6:15... and every hour until 10. Unfortunately, he also wakes the cat, who sits on my windowsill squalling for breakfast. So! I'm usually thinking "shut UP, Pete, your gonna wake the cat!" LOL

Not supposed to have roosters, but, I keep mine until they start to breed, then..they find out that they can make this wonderful sound that comes from themselves...off and on all day. At least I get a few fertile eggs. Still waiting for that rooster that won't want to crow all day. My neighbors swear they either can't hear it, or the ones East of us says, we don't mind! Well, Someone could mind. So, off they go. I have a barred baby NN boy out there..should get a photo of him. . . Hoping he is the one to be more on the quiet side. I've put collars on my others too, like I said works for a while..not NN's though. Haven't tried that..so not sure this will work. Anyway, one rooster figured out to crook his neck sideways to get that beautiful sound of his out alll the way. The others just sing through it, with all of their power.

I have one rooster that loves the sound of his voice, but mainly crows first thing in the morning for about half an hour straight, and then just before they return to their respective coops at night for another half hour straight. He's the flyer in the group and I often find him standing atop one of the coops or my garden enclosure, keeping an eye peeled for danger.

Another rooster stands outside my bathroom window and crows the entire time I'm showering. I'm not sure why, but he's always felt compelled to serenade me. Most of the rest of the day he's quiet.

Given that I've got over a dozen roosters on my property you'd think it would be a lot noisier around here, but most of the day they're actually quiet.

There is a vet here in OK that can surgically modify so the crow is very minimal. He had pioneered the surgery, making his own tools and everything. There have been many on his thread that have used his services and have glowing reports. I haven't been on the thread in quite a while, I think the surgery was around $200 give or take (if memory serves) plus shipping both ways.

That isn't a bad price at all. Bet he isn't close by .. :/
I know that's why I mentioned shipping. I think he also has some that he already performed the surgery on that he will sell and ship. The boys have to be grown or nearly grown so shipping is a big deal, that way the boy only has to be shipped once. Works if you need a quiet roo and aren't already attatched to one. People on the thread have commented both ways, sending their own special boys to him and having them shipped back, as well as getting one he already has ready and has evaluated the effectiveness of the surgery.

Wow. Just wow. This is more than great. I mean-I don't need it but, do you maybe know how guiet they get? I can't even believe that's possible.

Wow, he is quiet. I have a friend who had one done..I'm honestly not sure if was done in our state..which I doubt..or where it was. He didn't work out as well as this guy. He was more quiet, but still had quite a crow. Darling big Frizzle boy.
This little one I have in the brooder now, the baby that I just showed..is one that I would love to keep for a while..if it's a boy. And if it's a girl. :) So sweet! Those funny long legs! I am going to name it Pippy as someone suggested here. I've been calling it that..best be a girl I guess. I guess if it turns out to be a boy, I can call him Piper.
Would love for a surgery to work on a couple of roosters. Two roosters..how would it be? I want a silkie rooster too.
