Yeah, I have been quite surprised by them. You hear/read that some breeds aren't winter hardy, and others are. I have to say that my white leghorns are some of the most hardcore chickens I have. Up first, sometimes before it is even dawn, and are laying eggs. They are the first to run outside (when it's still dark) no matter the temperature (and we've had lows to -20 not including the windchill). Next up is my banty, who is the only chicken that will wade through deep snow (go figure). Then the NNs. As far as who HASN'T been winter hardy, my buff orphingtons and brahma are wimps!!
