Naked Neck/Turken Thread

Nice birds. Where did they come from? Is that dark one a cockerel? Wondering if the light colored feathers on wing are the rooster feathers coming in.

I got them from Welp. Yes, the dark one is a cockerel. I am real curious to see what he is going to look like when he is all grown up. I have a second one. But I don't think he is NN (just Nn). He has more than just a few fluffy feathers on his neck, he grew almost twice as fast as the "little" dark one and he is super mean (attacks every chicken in sight). He is VERY pretty but the way he is acting he must be a cross with a fighting breed and he going to be dinner

You will !! Those are some very naked necks.

Nat123, it may depend on what breed of chickens you have. I have 13 LF chickens of various breeds and introduced a bantam NN to their pen (not even free ranged) and they gave her the typical run around, but she's doing great. I'm curious now what breed you have?

My bantam NN boys were super mean little fellows... even when they were just tiny chicks they were little terrors. I had to separate one of the boys out because they were just fighting like crazy. Now, the bantam NN girls on the other hand, well they are just as sweet as can be... I have these girls in with a super sweet little bantam cochin frizzle roo... can't wait to hatch some of their chickies out!

Just dropping by the N-Neck thread

I got a little rooster crazy, & let more than I needed go. didn't realize I let go of all my N-Neck roosters.

I put all my roosters in the roo pen, I had a buyer that went rooster crazy & took them all.

The cash came flowing & the rooters went going. was too late by the time I realized what happend

DUMB ME

We only kept one of each roo for our breeding projects... never occurred that "it" might not work out... or we might loose a roo! Thankfully, the boys I kept are all working out (knock on wood)... but in the future I will keep an extra around... just in case. Still learning

These are soooo cute. I *have* to get some Turken eggs this year. Someone list some in a few weeks, willya?

Had a showgirl for a while, but she was rehomed with my other silkies when I went 'large fowl' only.

Thanks for the reminder. I have a frizzled NN roo in a pen full of olive eggers and other mixed ladies. Gonna toss a few under the broody and see if they are fertile!
