Now HOW'D you do that?!!!

lol i am assuming that is is all luck as far as all pullets , or are you talking about the penciled part lol that i have no explanation for i am just assuming that somewhere in the background someone breed a turken to a hamburg or a campine lol

Pic? Is the pencilling like on campine or pencilled rock?

Doubt you would be able to find a NN roo with either- I had some(the pencilled rock sort) but just culled and sold off all of them..

May have to do outcross with another breed or hunt for NN roo with some of the desired genes- pencilling is combination of several genes.

If they are still very young(younger than 3 months) it may be juvenile pencilling..? Most juvenile pencilling are lost as chicks molt out to adult feathers. But in the same token, if yours are full grown pullets, using a cockerel that showed barring on his first chick feathers may prove to be use-able for your pullets.

edit: just saw your last post, so it's the campine sort.. would love to see pics!

I got a black one my first time. She grew out black, and when mated w/ the Delaware roo, I hatched a barred cockerel. He's rather handsome.

If Ethel comb and face get red in the next few weeks, have a boys name ready. The hatcheries have a 90% guarentee. You can call for a credit if the error is greater, but do it before 15 weeks or so.

Love her beard!

Thank you Dipsy Doodle Doo!!
I admit I did not read all the pages on this thread... got to about 20 so forgive me if this is already explained...

So what is the story with NN? Is it a dominate trait? Is there a pure bred NN? I gotta know all about them now that I have them.

Question for Kev: Do you have any Modern Game in your stock?

I missed getting him with his tail pointed downward. While I'm not a
huge fan of the barring, I really love this guy.
