We would love to see pictures of your mille hen & know which hatchery she came from too. It seems there's a few mottleds showing up in orders from at least one hatchery- there was a separate thread with pictures of a buff hen with mottling, owner did not mention what hatchery, though.
here are some photos of 'Taco', my neighbor wants her so she will be getting a new home soon. I got her from Cackle Hatchery
I have a question for Kev (or other genetics guru).
My Blondie is turning into Mottley....I'm assuming he is splash....different patches of various brown/black etc.
Blondie
I have a couple of blue girlfriends for him...here's Jezobel a few months ago.....face now very red so I think she is close to egg laying....Jordan looks exactly like her.
Also I have a Lavendar.....Arianne (very little at present.....but will be big enough next spring)
I think (and am very ready to be corrected) that Blondie should produce splash and blue offspring with the blue girls, and that if I continue to choose ones with least neck feathers that I should get nearer to real baldies.
I also have pure black NNs with clean necks, so they can come back into the genetic pool when wanted, oh and La Flèche for next spring, too.
Young La Fleche
Again, only babies, but showing up in their true 'horny' type.
Oh! This little splash girl laid her first egg this morning.
(she's the one back in the corner in this pic)
I rarely keep up with *exactly* when they start laying (because I rarely remember the date when they hatched) but she is 25 weeks. I wanted her to be a boy so bad
The other splash girl in the pic has been laying about a month now --- both lay pretty blue-green eggs.
