Flower, I think that Sparky has a wonderful feather colour. How old is she? (what I see looks female, providing she is not much younger than I am thinking.).What were her parents?

Kev I am now pretty convinced the big blonde one (Yellow Peril....YP) must be the father of Blondie as the leg colour is the same and there's not a trace of feathers .
The Brahmas have bright yellow legs (not easily seen with the feathers), and all but one of my NN's who is from a different blood line have yellow feet (black on the legs and top of the feet).


Green eyes does seem to be a hybrid thing.....or maybe it's the grass!

If YP is the father of Blondie he may inherit his father's enormous vocabulary....YP in NEVER quiet......he has a huge array of purrs, oohs, aaahs and groans. Warren is just standard brown.....and ancient (nearing 6) for a production bird.

Mort is a noisy bird, too.He makes a lot of noises apart from his very frequent crowing (he is current alpha male) Have others found that their NN boys are vocal? My hybrid NN, Gordon,is very quiet. He has only crowed about twice. I hope he doesn't realise he is at least twice the size of Mort or he may become alpha male. (He may have to go if that were the case as I would think he could become quite aggressive with his size and speed).

Gahh I cant find any NN's near where I live nor in the canadian hatcheries. Guess I will have to be patient to breed them! I found out one of my 2 NN's is a roo, which is fine I guess but I would much rather have a pullet. Hes a beautiful splash boy and would make amazing offspring.

Thank for all the comments. Sparky was named because "her" golden feathers sparkle against the black. Both birds were born 4-11-2011, so they are just six months old. I guess I will need to change my ideas about Sparky. Oh well Nava has some LF blues cooking for me and I see a splash Marans male in my future also. The challenge is blue birds, black skin and blue eggs. Guess I need to talk with Lisa about her wonderful birds. yaehhh

PG it would be difficult to tell the parents of the bantam NNs because the breeder lives in Tn and does not have too much to say except that he is trying to make pure colors that breed true. All that I asked was no whites since I live in the desert and they hardly ever stay white since they take dust baths frequently. Hey if Gorden has to go send him to me after he gets stuffed !

I know Cackle has mottled NNs, but as I recall only buff. I had contacted Cackle last summer
regarding white NNs. Cackle is proud of this mottled characteristic.

Flower I don't think they let hideous objects through customs and anyway I don't know of a taxidermist brave enough to process that UGLY beggar....guess I'll just have to keep him.He is quite friendly with people, so, as long as he doesn't get too big for his wattles, he can stay.

Good morning, everyone. These are the first 5 chicks from my NN and a non naked neck rooster.
A sex link male that I choose because his strong body. Some of the chicks have a good
comformation. I choosen the only the big eggs for incubating. Because I don´t know their
genes, I used visual selection. Then I plan to croos with a Malgache, a big naked neck
from Madagascar. Here in PR, I know a guy who has it.
