I can do that! I think I got a shot of it when my ODS was holding it. Just have to get it off the phone.

i need some help with genetic, i really love mottled (black and white) chickens ,so i really want some mottled nn hens,i think these are my choices
1) i have anconas, mottled java and exchequer leghorn ,it would be better to use a white nn roo or a black nn roo.
2)black nn hens with non nn white roo
3)white nn hens with non nn black roo.
4)black non nn hens with white nn roo
5)white non nn hens and black nn roo
6)black nn hens and white nn roo
7)white nn hens with black nn roo
and if i use non nn roosters and hens what breeds are the best ,
i have 3 white nn hens
i have 5 black nn hens
but i have 2 nn roos one barred and one blue with yellow

I have done something similar to what you want.

I used my ancona hens with my WHite leghorn roo and I got some really nice motted birds.

I say use your motted hens ( ancona,java and exchequer ) with a white NN Rooster

I'll look for the pic one of my pullets from that cross.

This is a face picture of the NN.

How soon can you determine breed on NNs? I don't have experience with straight run chicks with single combs! The only other single comb chickens I have I got them sexed. FYI: He is pure turken, no mixing. I saw both parents that were black as well. My DH isn't a huge fan of the NNs. I think they have their own charm, they are different looking but it gives them a unique look. My kids think they are neat, my ODS refers to him as the "pink necked" chick!

Oh no. I hope you are wrong. DH has already said we need no more roos! I was thinking it was only a few days old.

Don't count your chicks before they hatch, and don't count your hens till they crow!

I have had quite a few chicks I've hatched look like roosters, only to be girlies (and the other way too!). Don't get too worried yet!
