Yes, Flower.

A Blue Partridge Brahma is playing host to 4 La Flèche eggs (fathers unknown as I haven't yet separated them up.....there are 5 boys around....and any of 3 NNs could be the father....including the lovely Gordon who is joint alpha). So I may have the Naked Flèche or Transylvanian Devils as somebody suggested (La Flèche sometimes being referred to as the Devil's Chickens)

I never expect anything until they hatch, but, day 5 today, so I'll candle them if the potential momma can be persuaded to leave the nest.

My hands are already pretty full with 8 bottle lambs, but a few chicks always adds to the interest.

Boy do I miss my Turkens. They were the most docile chickens I have ever had. They would even go broody for me. I loved them. Unfortunately I went on vacation and came back to discover a dog had broken into the coop and massacred all 15 of my N-Ns. :'(

nwgomo...that's horrid....I'm blessed with a dog who has chickens for bedmates and sheep for playmates. It must have been horrid.

Flower....Sometimes the family help, but often I am plastered from head to toe with ewe's milk replacer as bottle lambs are NOT gentle .

Pg; Just say the word and I'll buy a ticket and come help for a week. That's if I can get my husband to take care of my girls.(That would be the day)

EVERYTIME I see a barred NN..........I WANT ONE!!!!!!

I finally got my NN chicks they are 4-6 weeks old, they are not from the hatchery, but from a local BYCer after my recent hatchery dissapointment.
This isn't all of them just a cross selection they are awesome!
















I thought I wanted all blue and splash, but I LOVE the variety I got.

Kaussandra, I think you'll be happier with the variety you received. I have a pen of black, blue, splash, white, and barred. It sounds like a lot of variety, but it's like watching chicken TV in black and white.

I'm used to pea combs so all these big combs have me on pins and needles!!! I do want one roo though. I didn't post a pic of the white one the same age as the red one and it's comb is easily double the size of the red one so

for a red girl since I am 99.9% sure the white w/ black is a boy. Those black combed ones take some getting used to also guess for those guys I'll have to wait to see some saddle feathers, hear a crow or see and egg???

Speaking of genders, what does everyone think on this one? Had three NN in the valentine's day hatch.. One is obviously a girl (and a very pretty one too - haven't been able to get a decent pic yet), one was obviously a boy (big red comb and monster legs at around 4 weeks). This one has skinny little legs like the obvious girl and small yellow comb, but s/he had a red neck starting at about 6 weeks. Too young for saddle feathers yet, so no, none there. Almost 9 weeks old. I'll keep him/her/it either way, as there's room in the coop for two roos if they get along, but I keep going back and forth. If it helps any, s/he is probably half EE.
