Ya'll have such great name suggestions. I am STUMPED on what to name our acreage in particular what to put on our egg cartons when I start selling eggs. Here's some info that may help so there's no "green acres" suggestions. :) Its a semi-arid, mostly treeless area (except for a few in the yard). We're at the base of the mountains (10 acres @8000 ft).

I have 6 young chickens and they're all black and white or grey. (silver laced wyandottes, barred rock and lavender orpingtons. (No shades of grey because I can't stand that book/movie, so that's out.)

Thanks for your help!

I am no help but I did just go through a similar struggle when we moved into our new homestead. I desperately needed a name for our farm because I was in the process of trying to set up a website to showcase our Miniature Schnauzers but I wanted to have a name that could carry on to our other livestock as well. Everything I thought I liked was already used in a domain. Finally one day while we were working on cleaning up the place after we bought it, I was whacking weeds by the end of our driveway and it was a mess. In the big mess of weeds that had previously been neglected there were apparently two roses bushes, but I cut them down. Lo and behold they started to come back pitiful as ever but it gave me my farm name! Twin Roses Farm! My rose bushes, which are at the entrance to my farm are quite sad, I told my husband we would have to remove them and actually plant some good healthy bushes since it is our namesake. Unfortunately, I have a black thumb when it comes to horticulture so Twin Roses Farm will likely never be know for its roses! It works well for our dogs, sheep, horses, and chickens though!

Maybe if you look around you will stumble upon something that will give you inspiration. Good luck!

When i saw 'base of the mountains' a name instantly came to mind, Although its not very accurate the name "High Mountains Pasture" came to me... Not the best i know but its an example of what you could come up with. Like what Doc McCluckins said i'd take a lookies around and name it based off from something you see ;)

I like Up The Creek Farm. Dry Creek Farm rolls easily off the tongue but sounds kind of desolate. I don't guess 8,000ft is considered foothills, otherwise you could be Foothills Farm. Is there some interesting way you could incorporate your last name?

Does the mountain or creek have a name? I was surprised to find the little stream that runs thru the back of my property and sometimes dries up to nothing has an actual name.

See you're all brilliant!

@TalkALittle No, no name, unless I want to call it "water in someone else's field" ;) it was all diverted for others water rights years back. @Frazzemrat1 and @EggyErin very good ideas. Thanks all! More good ones to consider!

Here's another thing I could've added but forgot. We have a (silver, metal) canoe that we put in the dry creek bed. We lined the creek bed with rocks to make the dry creek bed stand out more.

Ok, this would be a bit obscure for those in the US, but if you make up a (good, short) name for your dry creek, you could call it Henley-on-<whatever>

It sounds sort of "high-falutin'", I like Henley because its got "hen" in it and sort of alludes to chooks.

It's pinching the name from the Henley-on-Todd boat regatta, which pinches the name from the Henley-on-Thames boat regatta.
