Maybe silkie mix? Idk what the roosters are though! Lol. Either way I can't wait until they feather out in a few weeks (or stay fuzzy if silkie based)!

It could be a satin too! In my hatch ever single satin ended up being a cockerel. Totally gorgeous though, but I was really wanting fluffy silkies.

Crazy thing is I want to keep most of the pullets, but not more than maybe 2 roos? I already have my Australorp rooster. Maybe one of these days I will start a teeny local hatchery. Call it "Mystery Mutts" or whatever the chicken equivalent is

I had a silkie once. Hated being held or touched. Pretty though. White silkie (though it was a light light yellowish and white mix) we named Cloud.

Cloud is a perfect name! Maybe she didn't want to be touched because she always worked so hard to keep her fluff just so.

My TSC silkies are wild and really skittish. The ones I hatched, it's hard not to trip over them. A couple don't like to be touched but others are really chill once I pick them up.

Svanhild had cold feet and Chonkers was sure I must have food in my hand.


One of my chocolate frizzles, not super interested in being touched, but also insanely nosey.

Satin are just a feather type of a silkie. So it could be a satin silky or just a silky. They have the same black skin, 5 feathered toes, a tuft or crown on their head, but their feathers are smooth, not fluffy. This is some of my crew from last summer. You'll see satin, regular, and frizzle in this bunch.

I am as surprised as you are! I expected much more of a loss from what I read and heard. 9/12 from hatch 1 is awesome! 11/12 made it to lockdown. Batch 2 has only 9/12 that has made it to lockdown. Wonder how many babies we will have by Saturday night!

Satins! All the silkie characteristics but with normal smooth feathers.

I totally hate having to share photos of my adorable chickens... but I'll make myself do it just for you...

Satins, I'm not sure what breed was introduced but these guys have crazy long foot feathers.








Frizzled silkie, easier to see in person, the fluff goes every direction!
